Sons of the American Legion Squadron 283 Featured in Palisades Post

by Tom Yaeger on April 21, 2013

The Sons of the American Legion Squadron 283 was featured in the recent edition of the Palisades Post. The article describes the efforts of Palisadians Neal Conners and Nicky Casalenuovo, sophomores at Saint Monica Catholic High School,  assembling and shipping of care packages for military personnel assigned overseas. Conners became involved because his father, Brian, is a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Squadron 283, which sponsors various platoons through AdoptaPlatoon.

The platoon that the American Legion has been sponsoring is returning to the United States and the Sons have been assigned a new group that consists of 25 Marines from North Carolina who were deployed to Afghanistan. Anyone can make a donation by dropping by the American Legion Post 283, on La Cruz (next door to the old post office), or call (310) 454-0527.

Neal and Nicky mention in the article that there is particular interest in new or slightly used baseball gloves and balls so the Marines can play during their down time while serving their country. Let’s continue to support Neal and Nicky as they build the packages for our next shipment.
